Ant-Man and the Wasp picks up after the events of Captain America: Civil War. Scott Lang is under house arrest following his involvement in the Avengers’ conflicts, which limits his ability to be Ant-Man. While he struggles with boredom and frustration, Hank Pym and Hope van Dyne approach him with a new mission: to rescue Janet van Dyne, Hope’s mother, who has been trapped in the Quantum Realm for decades.
Janet’s prolonged stay in the Quantum Realm has left her existence unstable. Hank, Hope, and Scott must navigate shrinking technology, experimental suits, and the dangers of the microscopic world to bring her back safely. Complicating their plan is a criminal named Sonny Burch, who wants to steal Pym’s technology for profit, and a mysterious figure, Ava Starr, aka Ghost, who has a phase-shifting condition that makes her unstable and dangerous.
Scott, learning to embrace teamwork and responsibility, assists Hope and Hank in tracking down Ghost and confronting Burch. Through clever tactics and the inventive use of their suits, they manage to save Janet and stabilize Ghost’s condition. Janet returns from the Quantum Realm older yet wiser, and Ghost finds a way to live safely using Pym’s technology.
