Spiderman (2002)

Spider-Man (2002) tells the story of Peter Parker, a shy and intelligent high school student who lives with his Uncle Ben and Aunt May in New York City. Peter has a crush on his neighbor, Mary Jane Watson, but struggles with confidence and social acceptance. During a school field trip to a genetics laboratory, Peter is bitten by a genetically modified spider. Soon after, he begins to notice strange changes in his body.

Peter discovers that he now has superhuman strength, enhanced agility, the ability to cling to walls, and a “spider-sense” that warns him of danger. At first, he uses his powers selfishly to make money in a wrestling match. However, when he fails to stop a thief who later kills his Uncle Ben, Peter is overwhelmed with guilt. He learns an important lesson: “With great power comes great responsibility.”

Meanwhile, Norman Osborn, the father of Peter’s best friend Harry, tests an experimental performance-enhancing serum on himself. The serum increases his strength but also drives him insane, transforming him into the Green Goblin. As the Goblin, Norman begins committing crimes and attacking the city, eventually targeting Spider-Man as his main rival.

Peter embraces his role as Spider-Man and becomes a hero who protects New York City. His double life creates tension in his personal relationships, especially with Mary Jane and Harry. The Green Goblin discovers Spider-Man’s identity and kidnaps Mary Jane, forcing Peter to choose between saving her or saving a group of children. Peter manages to save both, proving himself a true hero.

In the final confrontation, Spider-Man defeats the Green Goblin, who is accidentally killed by his own weapon. Before dying, Norman asks Peter not to tell Harry the truth about his father. Peter keeps the secret, even though it causes Harry to blame Spider-Man for Norman’s death. In the end, Peter decides to distance himself from Mary Jane to protect her, fully accepting the sacrifices that come with being Spider-Man.
